BEST FOREX VPS OVERALL

Starting at
$ 25 /mo
  • Locations Seven
  • Latency Low
  • RAM 2-8GB
  • CPU 1-4 cores
  • Robust data protection
  • Hyper-V
  • Fast speeds
  • A bit pricey

Trading FX VPS has a massive range of trading machines, suitable for just about any use. Let’s see if they’re the right fit for you.

Specs

Trading FX VPS has servers in seven locations: New York, Chicago, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Singapore, and Hong Kong. It’s not the massive network some other providers have, but it’s enough to go after the major brokers.

Also, the hardware is truly impressive—most forex VPS server machines have pure NVMe drives in RAID-10 arrays, making the storage safe and blazing-fast. The CPUs on the simplest servers are i9s with 3.50GHz speed, which is decent, but the provider also offers extremely robust high-frequency servers.

Some CPUs can be clocked up to 5.3GHz, 4800MHz memory, and even GPU acceleration to speed up charting. Beyond that, the provider has even stronger dedicated servers—they come with a 1Gbps uplink, cloud protection measures, and much more.

The standard VPS for forex trading plans start with one CPU core and 2GB RAM and go up to 4 CPU cores and 8GB RAM. If you need more than that, you can look into the provider’s high frequency or dedicated server ranges.

Overall, it’s a very broad range of high-end solutions.

Features

The servers feature Windows 10 or Windows Server 2019, 2016, and 2012. You can request any trading platform or expert advisor, and the support team will install it.

Trading FX VPS achieves 1ms connection speeds to many reputable forex brokers. There’s a list on the provider’s website that you can check so you know what kind of connection times to expect.

Trading FX VPS implements robust protection and data encryption measures. For instance, the servers run cloud-based anti-malware software that can clean up any threats.

Although it’s a bit odd—especially considering that Hyper-V has a built-in checkpoint system— the provider charges extra for snapshot backups.

Overall, though, you get reliable VPS hosting for forex trading.

Pricing

Trading FX VPS has three standard plans:

  • Standard VPS—One CPU core, 2GB RAM, 30GB storage, $25/month
  • Advanced VPS—Two CPU cores, 4GB RAM, 40GB storage, $45/month
  • Expert VPS—Four CPU cores, 8GB RAM, 50GB storage, $90/month

If, however, you need even more resources, Trading FX VPS can certainly accommodate you with its higher-end servers.

The prices are a bit higher than standard but still reasonable considering the high-end hardware.

Verdict

Trading FX VPS is a high-end provider with powerful, low-latency machines. If you want the best forex VPS money can buy, it’s the go-to option.

AccuWeb Hosting
AccuWeb Hosting
AccuWeb Hosting

BEST FLEXIBILITY

Starting at
$ 15 /mo
  • Locations 15
  • Latency 1-10ms
  • RAM 1-32GB
  • CPU 2-8 cores
  • Relatively cheap
  • Flexibility
  • Strong security
  • No default trading software

AccuWeb was one of the first providers to specialize in Windows VPS hosting. Over the years, it introduced an array of new services, including servers optimized for forex trading.

Let’s see how they perform.

Specs

AccuWeb has a substantial network.

Its servers are available in 15 locations, letting you target most major forex exchanges. They’re equipped with Xeon E5 CPUs, plenty of DDR4 RAM, and 1GBps internet connectivity. It’s enough to ensure no bottlenecks when executing trades.

AccuWeb also likes to boast about its latency to bigger forex brokers. In most cases, it falls somewhere between 1ms and 10ms—an excellent result.

The trading server plans come with 2-8 CPU cores and 1-32GB RAM, which should offer enough scalability even for smaller organizations. The smallest plan runs smoothly about four terminals, though you can set up as many as you like.

You could even look into AccuWeb’s range of dedicated servers—the provider has a massive selection of much more powerful machines.

Features

Unsurprisingly, AccuWeb’s VPS servers for forex trading run on Windows; specifically, Windows Server 2019, 2016, and 2012 (though the smallest machine only supports the last one).

The servers don’t include a trading platform by default, but you can request the installation of any major software, like MetaTrader 4 or 5, cTrader, TradeStation, etc.

Keep in mind that the servers support up to two simultaneous remote desktop connections. If you need more traders connecting at the same time, AccuWeb can resell you a license from Microsoft.

The virtual forex trading provider does a lot to ensure server reliability. You get an especially configured firewall, 24/7 monitoring, and RAID-6 storage.

Unfortunately, backups are weekly, so we’d encourage you to keep your own backups as well.

Overall, it’s a sublime offer.

Pricing

AccuWeb has six different plans:

  • VPS 1—Two CPU cores, 1GB RAM, 35GB storage, $15/month
  • VPS 2—Three CPU cores, 2GB RAM, 40GB storage, $27/month
  • VPS 3—Four CPU cores, 4GB RAM, 45GB storage, $47/month
  • VPS 4—Two CPU cores, 8GB RAM, 160GB storage, $114.99/month
  • VPS 5—Four CPU cores, 16GB RAM, 320GB storage, $194.99/month
  • VPS 6—Eight CPU cores, 32GB RAM, 640GB storage, $386.99/month

As you see, they’re relatively cheap forex VPS plans already, but you can get an additional $3/month discount if you prepay for the year. It’s a nice opportunity for the smallest plans, though it’s not really worth it on VPS 4 and above.

Verdict

AccuWeb is one of the best forex VPS options. It offers you plenty of flexibility in trading while managing all the technical parts for you. It’s a solid deal.

BEST OPTIMIZATION

Starting at
$ 29.74 /mo
  • Locations Eight
  • Latency 1ms+-
  • RAM 2-3GB
  • CPU High frequency
  • Highly optimized
  • Auto-boot feature
  • Downtime update schedule
  • Manual install of trade software required

ForexVPS is a provider that specializes in one thing—trading servers. It offers a line of robust machines and cooperates with brokers to get you the top performance.

Let’s see what the company can offer you.

Specs

ForexVPS has servers in eight countries around the world. The concentration of locations is the strongest in the US and the UK, but Asia gets solid coverage, too. It’s a decent network.

ForexVPS also does a lot to maintain low latency between its servers and reputable forex brokers. If you go to ForexVPS’s website and check out the numbers for each server location and every major brokerage, you’ll see the provider can achieve 1ms latency to most brokers, which is truly impressive.

The provider isn’t that specific about its hardware, but we know the servers have 1Gbps internet connectivity. Some high-frequency servers come with higher speed CPU cores—3.4GHz, to be exact. Unfortunately, this offer is only available in the US and the UK, so it works for a limited range of brokerages.

Overall, however, the infrastructure performs rather well.

Features

Like other forex VPS providers, the servers support Windows Server 2019, 2016, and 2012. Unsurprisingly, the smallest server constrains you to the 2012 version.

The provider does weekly backups and any necessary upgrades during the weekend. That way, it ensures maintenance won’t interrupt your trading.

The servers are optimized for running MetaTrader 4 or 5. ForexVPS even has a script set up that can boot the trading system whenever you start the server, which is a nice touch.

A few other handy apps come on the server by default (like the Chrome browser), but you have to manually install any other trading-related software you want to run on your MetaTrader VPS.

Pricing

If you want to trade alone or with a couple of collaborators, then one of ForexVPS’ four plans will probably appeal to you:

  • Basic—One CPU core, 2GB RAM, 60GB storage, $29.74/month
  • Basic+—Two CPU cores, 2.5GB RAM, 80GB storage, $33.99/month
  • Standard—Two CPU cores, 4GB RAM, 90GB storage, $50.14/month
  • High Freq—One high-frequency CPU core, 3GB RAM, 100GB storage, $57.79/month

Verdict

ForexVPS is an excellent provider if you want to get a heavily optimized platform for yourself or a small team of traders.

InterServer

InterServer

BEST CUSTOMIZABILITY

Starting at
$ 10 /mo
  • Server type Unmanaged
  • Storage 30-480GB
  • RAM 2-32GB
  • CPU 1-16 cores
  • Extremely affordable
  • Price-lock
  • Good scalability
  • Significant learning curve

InterServer is a privately-owned host with impressive tech. It’s particularly well-known for its affordable Windows servers.

Let’s see if it has the best VPSs for forex trading.

Specs

InterServer runs multiple data centers in compliance with all necessary standards and a Tier 3 or Tier 4 classification rating—meaning you get the highest level of reliability.

The provider is secretive about the exact server specs, but the machines perform very decently. We know that each physical machine has a 10Gbps uplink, which gives it impressive internet connectivity.

Other than that, you can get 1-16 CPU cores, 2-32GB RAM, and 30-480GB storage. In other words, you can start small and scale massively.

Overall, the trading server specs are solid and cover a range of options.

Features

Unlike the other hosts we’ve covered, InterServer sells unmanaged servers, which means that setting up the machine and installing a trading platform on it is up to you. The provider works with Windows Server 2019, 2017, or Windows 10, which is fine for most users.

InterServer doesn’t offer much beyond that, except some tools to ensure the forex VPS security. That said, the offer is a lot cheaper than managed hosting, making InterServer an excellent option for traders with a bit of technical experience.

You can log into the machine through a remote desktop and set up any trading app you want—it’s mostly up to you what you want to run.

Pricing

InterServer has a relatively simple pricing structure. One server slice has one CPU core, 2GB RAM, and 30GB storage, and it costs $10/month. You can add up to 16 slices to a single VPS.

Overall, it’s a simple way to buy a server and scale predictably.

The forex VPS server provider also locks the price when you purchase a plan, which is a peace of mind few hosts can offer you. You can stay on the same tier indefinitely without worrying about price hikes.

Verdict

InterServer has one of the most powerful and affordable offers for those with technical experience.

If you’re comfortable running your own machine, it’s the go-to choice.

BEST SCALABILITY

  • Locations 17
  • Backup Automatic
  • RAM Up to 192GB
  • CPU Up to 32 cores
  • Excellent scalability
  • Many data centers
  • Fast storage
  • Locations mostly in USA

VPSServer is a provider that specializes in—you guessed it—VPS servers. It has a range of different machines, including ones for forex trading.

Let’s see if it has the best forex VPS hosting.

Specs

VPSServer has a substantial network of 17 data centers. Although most servers are in the US, you get solid coverage across four continents.

VPSServer deploys a robust cloud infrastructure on top of the hardware to create a massively reliable system. The servers feature 3-way replication on NVMe drives, meaning the storage is extremely fast and practically foolproof. In other words, you can enjoy great efficiency while trading reliably.

The forex virtual trading host doesn’t include many other specifics, like CPU models. Still, the infrastructure has decent performance and can let you execute trades quickly.

With VPSServer, you can get up to 32 CPU cores and 192GB RAM. The provider also has CPU and memory-optimized servers, and it offers advanced cloud configurations and load balancers.

Overall, VPSServer has some of the best forex VPS infrastructures. The provider has something for you, even if you have a humongous trading operation.

Features

VPSServer bases its machines on Windows 2019, 2016, and 2012. You can choose between using MetaTrader or cTrader.

The provider implements trading-software-specific security measures, including a powerful firewall that allows custom rules. The VPS also has a great backup system that works without interrupting your work.

VPSServer doesn’t offer many extras beyond that, but you can pick out a template and build on it with whichever technologies you use.

Pricing

First things first—you can get a free forex VPS server for seven days. The offer encompasses the first three pricing tiers, and it’s a great way to test the platform before you commit.

Other than that, VPSServer has several plans with many different variants. The provider’s starting price is $24.99/month, but you can scale to a massive network with $1,000+ per month in cloud spending.

Listing all the different options here would be tedious and time-consuming, but you can check them out on VPSServer’s site.

Verdict

VPSServer is one of the most powerful providers, having a massive range of very scalable servers, robust security, and a forex VPS free trial that’s too good to pass up.

It’s a fantastic choice if you plan to scale your trading efforts.

Overall, NextPointHost is a cheap forex VPS provider.

Verdict

With up to 10 connections per server and reasonable pricing, NextPointHosting is a solid host if you want to link to many brokers at once.

FXVM
FXVM
FXVM

BEST FOR INDIVIDUAL TRADERS

  • Latency Low
  • Backup frequency Daily
  • RAM 1.5-4GB
  • CPU 1-2

FXVM is another specialist provider. It promises to deliver low latency servers that can help you execute trades more smoothly than ever.

Let’s see if it succeeds.

Specs

Equinix is one of the most established infrastructure and collocation services providers—and FXVM uses its servers. In other words, FXVM gets access to top-of-the-line hardware and prime locations, making it one of the best forex VPS options available.

The provider promises low latency to big forex brokers. You can check the provider’s test results on FXVM’s website and see which server location works the best for you.

The VPS plans start at one CPU core and 1.5GB RAM and go up to two cores and 4GB RAM. As you see, they’re rather small and more suitable for individual brokers who are looking to run no more than a few accounts.

If you need more than that, you can upgrade to a dedicated server, which is significantly more powerful.

Features

The provider’s default setup is the standard MT4 VPS, but you can ask support to install any other platform. You can log in through your mobile device or PC to run the software.

FXVM plans run on Windows Server 2019, 2016, or 2012 (note that the smallest server only supports Windows Server 2012, though). Daily backups and all the standard protection measures are included.

Overall, the setup is fairly standard.

How We Found the Best Forex VPSOur Review Process

Here’s how we evaluate providers and get our top picks:

  • We monitor the best forex trading platforms. We keep our reviews fresh by continuously including any powerful options that appear on the market.
  • We review the top hosts ourselves. Firsthand data ensures we’re always in the know about the leading solutions and what they can do.
  • We check each provider’s key features. When doing our final evaluation of the best VPS for forex trading, we take into account the servers’ performance, ease of use, and other crucial features like DDoS protection and overall security.
  • We test out the support, too. We contact each support team to see what kind of assistance they provide. The agents should be fast and responsive if you ever need help—especially considering how time-sensitive forex trading is.
  • The last piece of the puzzle is the price. We keep an eye on the going rates for VPS resources and determine which hosts offer fair deals.

All of that (and more) went into the making of our forex VPS reviews.

What Is a Forex VPS?

A virtual private server is simply a computer you can rent out like any other hosting machine. The “virtual” part simply means you’re buying a virtualized section of a computer instead of an entire server machine.

The VPS basically acts as an autonomous computer—it has its own operating system and installed programs. The difference is that a forex VPS is optimized for running a forex trading platform, like MetaTrader.

You can access the VPS from your own computer and use the trading system hosted on it.

But couldn’t you run MetaTrader on your home computer?

Is a server even necessary to trade?

Technically, you could host a trading software yourself, but you’d probably have at least a couple of hurdles in your way.

For one, it’s tough to keep a home computer running 24/7. Even if there are no power outages, hardware issues, or internet connectivity failures, you’d have to restart (at least) when an update comes along.

Realistically, it’s difficult to stay connected to a forex broker 100% of the time.

Also, unless you live across the street from a forex exchange, you can probably expect some latency issues during virtual forex trading. While your connection might work fine when streaming Netflix, milliseconds of latency can cause slippage for market orders.

Big firms can afford to set up trading servers near stock exchanges or forex brokerages to avoid this. Most of us, however, don’t trade nearly enough to make a complete server financially viable.

That’s where the best forex VPSs kick in.

A provider running hundreds or thousands of servers can take care of setting up high-availability machines near forex brokerages. Meanwhile, you can purchase a small portion of the resources and reap all the benefits of your own server—it’s beyond easy to set up something like MetaTrader, track currency pairs 24/7, and even automate trades.

So, if you’re just starting your forex efforts, it might be time to invest in VPS hosting.

How to Choose a Forex VPS?

Ready to pick out your provider?

Let’s go through a checklist of key features to consider before making the purchase—of course, any other useful features you can get are a bonus.

  • Server Locations—Providers usually place their data centers near popular brokerages. This helps avoid latency issues so that you can execute trades faster and always get the most favorable exchange rates. Just make sure the provider sells machines close to where you trade.
  • Hardware Specs—Better hardware with stronger internet connectivity speeds up the communication between your server and your forex brokerage. Check out what kind of hardware forex VPS providers use as well as the servers’ uplink speeds.
  • Software—Make sure the software you want to use is supported. Most people use MetaTrader, which means running Windows on the VPS. You could also set it up on Linux, but you’d have to use Wine for setting up Windows apps, and that’s much more complicated.
  • Security—You really don’t want your trading VPS going down. Pick a provider that implements all the necessary security measures to fend off attackers. DDoS protection is essential to stop anyone from purposefully blocking your virtual forex trading efforts.
  • Uptime—Each time your server experiences an outage, you’ll miss out on potential trades and likely lose money. A good provider typically offers an uptime guarantee of at least 99.9%.
  • Support—If there’s a problem with your server, you’ll want it taken care of quickly. A knowledgeable and experienced support team is essential here. You should dedicate at least a few minutes to get in touch with them and see how they respond before you commit to a server.
  • Price—Trading is really only worth it if you earn more than what you spend. You can always consider several providers that fit the bill and see which one offers the best rates.

Wrap Up

That covers the best forex VPS hosting. Now you know the top names in the industry and how to recognize a good provider for yourself.

Good luck trading!

FAQ

What's the best forex VPS?

There are plenty of solid options out there. Our absolute favorite is AccuWeb because it’s easy to use, fairly powerful, and relatively affordable.

If you’re interested, you can find out more about AccuWeb and the other best forex trading platforms in the reviews above.

How does a forex VPS work?

When you rent a VPS, you’re really buying a virtualized section of a server that hosts a trading platform (like MetaTrader or cTrader).

From your VPS, you can track currencies 24/7, execute trades, and automate certain trading actions. You can use it as if you were trading from your own computer.

How to connect a VPS to MT4?

Most providers install MetaTrader on your forex VPS by default. But if they don’t, you can also establish a remote desktop connection to the VPS and download the software through a browser.

Just install it like you would any other program, and you’ll be good to go.
