Graphic design quickly is becoming more accessible even to non-designers, but what about logo design? Designing logos is not easy either, yet everyone needs them.

This is where DesignEvo steps in. The best logo software a beginner can lay hands on, it makes logo design look effortless. You can create a logo quickly and, if you choose a paid plan, make it available for commercial use. Join us to see why you should consider DesignEvo in this review.

What Is DesignEvo?

DesignEvo is a logo creator that’s not actually free, but it offers a lot of valuable features for non-designers and beginners in logo design.

Devices and Operating Systems

First and foremost, this is an online app, so you can’t download DesignEvo for PC. It works on Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, as long as you are using Windows, Linux, or Mac.

DesignEvo is also available on Android and iOS, but keep in mind that the mobile and web versions are not synchronized. This means you can’t access the logos you have made using the web version in a mobile app.

Mobile App

DesignEvo for web and mobile could easily have separate reviews. The mobile app does not let you save logos as .svg or .pdf, but it lets you save them as transparent .png files with a resolution of 2000×2000 pixels.

Once you start creating a logo, you have to finish it, as it doesn’t allow re-editing. With the amount of time needed to create a logo, that’s not a big issue, but this is still far from ideal. On top of that, working with items, namely deselecting bigger ones, is a nuisance, although it does get easier on DesignEvo for iPad.

Templates

Templates are premade generic logos that you can adopt by simply changing the text. We at HostingTribunal don’t recommend that you use these without retouching for your brand or product, but it’s a good way to start practicing your logo making skills.

There are over 10 thousand templates on all of the web version’s plans, but only over 160 on the mobile app. That said, you can buy more logos and templates for the latter for just a few dollars.

Ease of Use

Both the web version and the mobile app are some of the most beginner-friendly design apps on the market. You aren’t greeted with tutorials right away, but the program is so easy to use, you probably won’t need them. Still, they are very easily accessible on both versions, as they are located in their respective sidebars.

The DesignEvo team isn’t active on Reddit, but there are some available tutorials both there and on YouTube.

User Interface

The interface is mostly about the big sidebar at the far-left side which you will be using to create all of the visuals. It’s one of the features that keep DesignEvo reviews so favorable. Its Settings button lets you change the language and access the official website’s tutorial and help menus more easily.

At the bottom of the screen, there are basic zoom and resolution options, as well as the Align menu that’s especially helpful for logos. The top part of the screen lets you Undo (Ctrl+Z) and Redo (Ctrl+Y) steps, as well as Preview, Save, or Download your work.

Our only complaint about the interface is that DesignEvo doesn’t use layers, forcing you to manually move objects backwards and forwards. This way, you do not always know where they stand compared to the rest of the design. Still, non-designers might find layers confusing, so that is not necessarily a bad thing.

DesignEvo Features

There are four main types of content that you can use for your logos: Icons, Text, Shapes, and Background. One of the bigger DesignEvo cons is the inability of adding content manually, but at least the choice is rather big.

Icons

Icons are vector graphics that you can use for your logos in conjunction with text. They are arranged by categories, but since there are millions of them, not all are shown. It may not be a photo editor, but this part of DesignEvo still relies on your creativity, as you will need to use the search option to find the particular icons you want.

Clicking on an icon will add it to your project and keep it selected so you can work on it. While an icon is selected, you can change its color, flip it, and change its opacity.

Text

The centerpiece of the DesignEvo content review, there is a lot you can do with text. You can choose to create a name or slogan, where names are bolded and bigger, while slogans are just body text.

Alternatively, you can create a text object by selecting a font type in the Classic tab, or going to the Art tab and choosing a premade, more colorful text object.

Other than font family and size, you can enable or disable bold, italic, uppercase, outline, and shadow/glow options, as well as set line spacing and curving.

Shapes

To further make DesignEvo feel like home, shapes have the same characteristics as icons, but a different menu. They are sorted by categories without a search option, but there are fewer of them, as they are not as crucial as icons.

Background

Finally, you can change the background of the whole project or disable it. The two-color Gradient option is a nice touch, too, as you can use a premade gradient template and change both of its colors yourself.

Plans & Pricing

FreeDesignEvo has low prices, but it also has a completely free version. However, its features are quite limited. The mobile app lacks icons and numerous templates, while the web one doesn’t let you save images bigger than 300×300 pixels. The company requires you to credit DesignEvo for each logo you create for free, but at least you get to try the program before buying it.

Basic – You can download logos as transparent .png files with a resolution as big as 5000×5000 pixels. They can also be edited, re-downloaded, and prepared for printing this way. You’ll get lifetime support, and you won’t be required to credit DesignEvo. The cost of this DesignEvo plan is $39.99.

Plus – For $99.99, the highest tier of the DesignEvo pricing options, you can save logos in the most popular vector format, .svg, or the best format for sharing them, .pdf. You will be allowed to download each and every font family that this program uses and even become the copyright owner of your logos. This means that you’ll be completely able to use them for both commercial and non-commercial projects.

The paid versions of DesignEvo don’t make it more suitable for photography or any other form of graphic design but are still great overall. Their money-back guarantee lasts 7 days.

Support

By opening the program’s settings, or just going to the official website, you’ll notice that there are FAQ and tutorial sections. Both are rather useful and we don’t have any complaints about them.

At the bottom-right corner of the workspace there’s a live chat button, as well as email support when the former is not available. Unfortunately, it wasn’t at the time of writing of this DesignEvo review. Since there is no phone number, the only means of direct communication is via email.

Luckily, the DesignEvo team is friendly and will answer all your questions. It might take them up to a day or two to reply, though.

DesignEvo User Reviews

We can freely say that nearly all DesignEvo reviews in 2021 are positive. Generally, users have nothing negative to say about the web version because if they wanted more versatility, they would have already opted for another online graphic tool.

The Android and iOS versions are another story, however, as people commonly complain about these versions being buggy. Still, those that didn’t encounter any performance issues were very pleased.

It’s sad to see that there are not many DesignEvo reviews on Reddit, but the few that are there praise it highly.

We Recommend DesignEvo For

Great for beginners or anyone looking for a free or paid logo maker, but does not want to spend a lot of time searching for or learning to use new software.

DesignEvo Alternative Options

It is now apparent that this is the best logo software for beginners, but how does it fare against other similarly priced software overall?

DesignEvo vs Canva

Canva is a great graphic design tool for people of all experience levels, but DesignEvo is one of the best logo makers for beginners. If you want the simplest possible brand logo generator, DesignEvo is the right choice. On the other side, Canva is more complex and versatile, and it can even be used as an alternative to PowerPoint. You can check out our Canva review for more info.

DesignEvo vs Visme

Both Canva and Visme are much more versatile graphic design tools than DesignEvo, but in this case, it comes at a huge price. Because of its monthly fee, you should only go for Visme if you design charts and infographics often. If logo design is your passion, the winner is DesignEvo.

DesignEvo vs PicMonkey

While it doesn’t beat DesignEvo at its own game, PicMonkey trumps it at just about everything else. After all, DesignEvo is not a photo editing tool. However, with its lack of a monthly fee, it literally gives PicMonkey a run for its money.

Verdict

This vector logo maker is by far the best at what it does. It’s very easy to create numerous logos with. If you want to save money or just get into logo design, we can’t think of a better option than its web version.

The mobile DesignEvo app may not be working as anticipated for some people, but if you know what to expect, you’ll love it.

FAQ

Is DesignEvo legit?

Its use may be somewhat limited, but yes, it is entirely legit.

Is DesignEvo Safe?

Yes. The good thing about it is that it’s an online app, so it won’t put you at risk.

Is DesignEvo Free?

You can use the free web version, although it is not great, allowing you to download only smaller-sized logos. The mobile app is much better, fortunately.

How Do I Cancel Tailor Brands?

To cancel your subscription, log into your account. Go to your account setting and select the active plan you wish to cancel. Click Current Plan and then Subscription Settings. Select ‘Cancel Subscription’ and confirm the cancellation.

How do I make a logo without a watermark?

DesignEvo is a great way of doing that, as it lets you create such a logo in minutes.

What can I use instead of DesignEvo?

All three programs listed in the Alternatives section of this DesignEvo review are good choices. All of them are better graphic design tools if that’s what you are into.
